Wishing you a very Happy Pongal
Makar Sankranti or Pongal is the season for Rangoli designs. We would love to draw rangoli designs or patterns to welcome Sankranti Lakshmi or the crop we yield during the rainy and winter seasons.
Kanuma is celebrated next day of Sankranti. Hope you all know Govardhana Puja or Go puja (worship of cows) is the major ritual during Kanuma. It is believed that Lord Sri Krishna was lifted the Govardhana parvatham (Mount Govardhan) to save the farmers and people of Gokulam.
Every festival In India have different colors, prayers, sweets and old unique rituals. Pongal is the great Indian harvest festival, celebrated every year in mid January. People decorate their house with kites, sugarcane and rangoli. we try to put beautiful Rangoli in front of our house. We can spend hours together with our family members to decide the designs and colors isnt?. There will be meetings, will go on for hours with all our neighbours to decide upon the designs and the colors. In my childhood days we used to fight a lot for colors and designs but if you see, actually those fights add more fun:-). Rangoli preparation starts at late in the night and it ends in next day morning. The only available lights are street lights and extra few candles. We used to mix more than two colors to get new shades but you know what, you will get to see the actual results only in the next day morning. We must have thought its blue but it would have been turned to be red in color hehe. All the fights that happened just wither soon once we get to see the final colorful rangoli. The best part is going to each and every streets and gazing at the beautiful and traditional rangoli designs.
Now a days we get into bed after long hrs at office and we watch television until we fall asleep. In present city culture there is absolutely no fun in celeberating such traditional festivals. Wishing you all have loads of fun in this 2010 pongal holidays and Happy pongal.

The blog indiahelps.blog-spot.com was started after the Mumbai terror attacks of 26/11, as citizens looked for ways to help the victims. “
www.blooddonors.com - When Khushroo Poacha, an officer with the Indian Railways in Nagpur, launched www.blooddonors.com in 2000, he was utilising the dotcom boom to make patients who need blood connect with those willing to donate. Less than a decade later, he has 50,000 registered donors from all across the country. “With the click of a button, I am able to connect to at least four or five blood donors in every city free of cost,” says Poacha.
Poacha’s latest initiative — www.givemedicines.org — is aimed at collecting unused medicines and distributing it to non-governmental organizations (NGOs). “Open your cupboards or medicine chest, organize an unused medicine collection drive in your locality or office, and donate them to people who need them,” says Poacha on his website.

Do you know this? there is a special event to encourage IT industry to use Open Source. I read and then went to wiki to find out the details. Wiki says that Software Freedom Day (SFD) is an annual worldwide celebration of free/open-source software. SFD is a public education effort, not only to celebrate the virtues of free/open-source software, but also to encourage its use, to the benefit of the public.
The open source movement was launched in 1998, and the Free Open Source Software (FOSS) movement came much earlier, IT recession saw tons of code lost, and tons of people left unemployed. In the collapse of capitalist dreams came the idea of rebuilding with shared code, so that the next recession might not be so destructive.It’s a natural reaction to a boom-and-bust cycle. Let’s rebuild and do it right.
Even I encourage people to use Open source tools/technology. you can also prompt/share your experience/reviews with Recent Open source tool over here in my blog. If you are interested then post your comment.

This month reflection - Global Warming::Green in IN!

We talk about Global warming and keeping the environment clean as an aware citizen of this world. As we understand that the time has come to act and save our environment, we say ‘Green in In’.
In a group discussion my friends and I were discussing on keeping the environment clean and specifically on no usage of plastic bottle in our organization. Though I religiously follow the environmental friendly habits in my day- to-life, I was against the motion for throwing away plastic bottles. That sounds strange but yes, I have to be honest. However, I have my own points here to share.
My points on “not throwing away plastic bottles”:
• Any polymer/plastic once manufactured and got in a person’s possession cannot be digested by nature in any way, if I need to exact, to degrade a plastic the nature takes
• We have concepts like recycling to increase the life of plastic already existing in the human society, so that we need not create more. To reduce the demand for manufacturing new plastic.
• The idea is to give longer life to an existing plastic bottle. We can only restrict ourselves to buy new plastic in any form.
• Tupperware plastic is bio-degradable and could be used instead normal plastic
So how do we stop people from buying new plastic and using plastic already bought responsibly.
• We should make people aware of the fact that reusing plastic bottles like Bisleri, Maaza, etc for drinking water, may actually be harmful for their own health. Below are the few I could mention from internet
*Chemicals May Contaminate Food and Drinks in Reused Plastic Bottles. Reused Plastic Bottles Can Leach Toxic Chemicals. Even Plastic Water and Soda Bottles Should Not Be Reused. (Source: http://environment.about.com/od/healthenvironment/a/plastic_bottles.htm).
*Refilling water bottles can result in contamination of the water with bacteria, for example from the hands or mouth of the person filling or using it. With time and in warm conditions, bacteria can multiply to harmful levels, but safe handling and proper cleaning can help prevent this from happening. Recent reports have specifically suggested that a common plasticizer, DEHA, can leach from plastic soft drink bottles into the liquids they hold, particularly with reuse. However, the majority of plastic water and soft drink bottles are made with a substance called PET, and do not contain DEHA.
While current research indicates chemicals are not released into water by reuse, many of these bottles are manufactured to be recycled, not reused. Some plastic bottles can warp when exposed to heat in the cleaning process.
It is therefore important to ensure that after the bottle has been washed in hot water and left to air dry that it is intact and has not been damaged.
• To promote on usage of tetra packaged food, which has lesser percentage of polymer than plastic cans, bottles. This would cut down the source of plastic bottles.
• Don't discard the non-biodegradable plastic pet bottle into drains and streams. Encourage people to sell it for recycling.
• Keep separate garbage can for degradable and non degradable items. So that the non-degradable item could directly go for recycling.Commons gaps between thinking of person using plastic bottle and the one on a plastic free drive.
Hope we have an environment friendly campus, city, country and world soon.

Do the Wave : Do the Test!
Google first showed off its new integrated communications platform called Google Wave in May. From Today onwards 100,000 testers are going to get to look pretty closely at the platform. You look at Google Wave, the cooler it looks.
eWeek.com reports that the test will reach consumer and business users. Danny Sullivan also points out that this test may also include the capability to invite others.
Read Write Web clarifies that each person invited will have the opportunity to nominate eight people to join
Wave include:
•Online/offline chat
•One-on-one or group chat
•In-line replies within chats
•Photo sharing, events and link sharing
•(Eventually) integration with email
More features are to come—some of which are pretty vital, such as privacy and permissions features, the ability to remove people from waves, etc.
RWW reports the invites will be coming to select people from developers currently working on their sandbox server, people who’ve signed up on the Google Wave site and some Google Apps enterprise users. IE users will be prompted to add Google Chrome Frame to their browser.
As the back-end support for the system grows, more invites will be issued—some to those so graciously nominated by their friends who are already testing. If none of your friends are on Wave yet, RWW [Read Write Web]says you can always play with the robots—no seriously, developers have already created bots for Google Wave.

Folks i know am just posting all pix and not taking time out to write or sharing with you guys. I am doing good and God bless everyone there. Life is on its own phase and getting along very well. The lady i admire - She is terrific and prominent TV shows and Magazines
As she walks on to the dais to take the pulpit; one young bright, happy and a sparking personality who has shaken most of our hearts by her tremendous speech. Ofcourse we are all speechless after hearing her. As she spoke by giving instances about how to handle problems; I gained courage not just to face but fight to progress in life. She made these points elaborating on each one by sharing how she came up with them out of her experiences. I want to imprint these five points on my every nerve as I need these words to change the way I see things
Barriers: One needs to jump the mental barriers; physical barriers are much easier
Experts are not always correct; take a step further to do a self research and teach them. Do not blindly follow.
Though ground things are important; never loose the big picture
Be resourceful
Be futuristic
She reiterated that we have to remember these 3 responsibilities as individuals
Personal
Professional
Societal
She also believes that the core competency of a woman is her multitasking skill and that the best performance is during worst times. Being self-directive and a visionary about social entrepreneurship; she encourages more and more women to become part of building a balanced society.
She is the one lady Karuna Gopal who will be remembered everyday and most adorable and admirable.

Pink dolphin and Pink Me ! hehehe
First time sighting dolphin at singapore dolphin lagoon show. It was thrilling experience. I saw a real pink dolphin in Sentosa Island, singapore and I really want to touch her/him. I am bad!I forgot their names. They asked for some volunteers to go down and play/touch the dolphins (erm...please think straight). i raised my hand when they called me out and i stood up, there was a very distinctive "Oooooo" from the male audiences. wow! i was on 9th cloud because since my childhood I’ve been watching quite a few these shows in TV and never dreamed in a million years I would be the one they pick out of such a big crowd.
Trainer took me to the water and sprayed oil to both of my hands. Trainer raised his hand and whistled..oh man the next moment..pink dolphins poped out from the water..swims round me and I get to stroke it a few times, then trainer asked to put my kneel down in the water which is only up to my shoulders and the pink dolphin comes up and kisses me on the cheek, I took deep breath on the surface, the graceful mammal actually touched my face again as if kissing me! I’m so excited to be in such proximity with this amazing creature.
Playing with pink dolphins it was amazing. Then I feed it tiny little fish by hand and the trainer guy tells me ofcoure! I tried to put it in her mouth instead of throwing it for her. My pink dolphin then waves bye bye to me with her tail and they did make some funny noises.
There was actually a skit where the dolphins were shaking their heads when being offered some fish, but they wanted the whole bucket instead. it was fun and very cute.
The dolphins continued to check me out. eventually every dolphin in the basin came up to see me. Several touched me gently. I found it amazing that these sea creatures were so gentle and they had so much personality. :-( All too soon, my 30 minute visit with the dolphins was over. it is a memory I will enjoy and relive forever.

Since so many days I didn’t visit my bog :-) as usual no reason for it. Think its high time for me to pen down to share few interesting things which is really worth to showcase.

After reading this- Hope all my buddies would have got a smile on their face and could have told themselves "Yeah Man. I Know!" - Yes. You got me right!
Nobody is perfect. Depends on the situation allows everyone to act... Every bit was worth it because even I felt it. I knew it was real, Life is real and I'm living it everyday. I've royally done things which I felt it right and do I regret? Never, because at one point what I did was what I wanted and I got my satisfaction. My life is mine and nobody can ** it up for me anymore. I'm the real deal and I'd love to see ppl try and break me again.
I have clearly understand that they are either Low life’s that have nothing else better to do than try to drag down one person to make them higher up on the social ladder. And the best part of i can tell you is that all gossipers and backbiter are secretly worried about u and ur life and discussing with others and yes of course they are going the wrong way about it. Or they just want to make themselves feel better because they have such low self esteem.
This is a very passionate issue for me coz I really hate gossipers, gossip in the sense of "talkative woman" - Why not for men? I feel that it should apply for both genders..
Don’t they look at themselves before talking about others?... are they as good as others? No CLUE!
I've fallen victim recently:o( but learnt a wonderful lesson: I just have to say that u 've gotta pay no attention to dumb ** people like that. They have no life if they backbit and gossip... Screw them! And at the end of the day its you that makes things better for yourself. You live ur life... Don’t let some scumbags try to ruin it for you.

I showed the guy at the entrance my ID card and walked in… he had to call me back asking the ticket…

Venu Vedam: And I – after a forty hour marathon in Bhubaneshwar with Powerbuilder, decided to take a break and went to a movie. In the middle of the movie, when I wanted to check the time, I kept repeatedly glancing at the bottom right corner of the silver screen!

The other day I was hearing one guy talking of a "Standalone" house.. when he was actually intending a independent house… Poor broker shud have tuff time trying to find a " Alone house standing in a huge empty area… " don't know what interpretations the guy must have made
